Whether you believe it or not, there are good and bad dental habits that can help and damage your smile. If you want to have the top-notch teeth and gums you deserve, you should use the good habits to your advantage and avoid the bad habits as much as possible. Our dentist, Dr. Gary W.D. Lee, is happy to help you do so by listing the good and bad dental habits here:

Good dental habits
-Brushing your teeth at work and school (Brushing your teeth after lunch can help you have a clean and healthy smile and it can even help you avoid having embarrassing food-stuck-in-the-teeth moments)

-Sipping water throughout the day (Drinking water regularly can wash your teeth and gums and eliminate bacteria in the mouth. This can help you avoid dental problems)

-Wearing a mouthguard when you’re active (When you wear a mouthguard during high-contact sports and activities, it can help you prevent knocked-out and broken teeth and other oral injuries)

Bad dental habits
-Chewing on hard objects (Chewing things like ice, pens, pencils and your fingernails can apply unnatural pressure to the teeth and cause tooth cracks)

-Snacking throughout the day (Snacking exposes the smile to harmful substances on a regular basis, which increases your chances of having dental issues)

-Forgetting about your dental checkups (If you forget about your dental checkups, your smile could be in grave danger, so please remember to attend your checkups every six months)
